Cross Country Day

On Friday the 24th of August 2017 all 9-11 year old went to Minogue Park in Hamilton to do Cross Country.
It was a hard time running, as we had to run 2500m without stopping.
Most people thought of just winning for their priority but mine was just to finish, without being last.
I felt like a turtle, the turtle you find taking the short way and actually beating the rabbit, but i didn't come at least 5th or higher, but i'd say everybody did a great job running.
We came back to school at about 2:20 I liked walking back because it gave me a big rest.

Year 6 Art Painting Day

On Tuesday the 21st of August 2017 all of the year 6's in Room 15, 7 and 4 went to go paint a memory piece of art so people don't forget the special year 6's that leave.
First we all had to sketch an outline of our characters, most of us finished before morning tea.
After morning tea, we had to paint our characters with a variety of paints, like gray, blue, black, forest green, sage green, red, crimson, indigo, and many others.
After the painting block, we had to sharpie our outlines to make our paintings able to stand out much more.
All of this took us 4 hours and 45 minutes which is the whole day, excluding lunchtime and morning tea.
I really enjoyed this experience, and next time I want to do another one, but at Maeroa!

Trees For Survival day

On Thursday 23rd of August 2017, Room 15 and a class from Pukete School completed a project called Trees For Survival.
We planted the trees because they help New Zealand grow and supply the land with fresh oxygen, but most of all, it helps stop water pollution in the Waikato River as the roots of the plants stablise the soil.
The staff from fonterra showed how we should plant like green fingers.
Before we had to put the plant in the hole, we had to make sure a little tablet was in that hole. This 'tablet' acts as a fertilizer for the plants to make them grow fast, strong, and overall better for the environment. We had to make sure to carefully take the plant out of the bag, then level the stalk with the ground.
Everyone had to check that it wouldn't pull out, so we had to stomp the loose dirt around the plant so it could get a better grip onto the soil.
Room 15 and Pukete had to plant about 600 plants around the Fonterra factory.
